POWDERED METALLURGY – LOCKSLIDES
ASCO Sintering is a leader in the design and
engineering of progressive powdered metallurgy
components such as lockslides, specializing
in complex, multi-level powdered metallurgy
components. The lockslide is produced utilizing
the powdered metallurgy process consisting of a
two-piece assembly resulted in substantial savings
over the previous manufacturing process.
The powdered metal lockslide manufactured by
ASCO Sintering meets the 500-pound pull test
requirement. The lockslide produced from the
powdered metallurgy process totally eliminates
the cost of machining, and meets the initial specified
tolerance requirements. The lockslide is
constructed using a copper infiltrated material,
which provides better physical properties than
copper steel.
The powdered metal process can hold closer
tolerances than most other metal fabricating
processes to produce locksides. Powdered metal
lockslides can be produced to specific
metallurgical or physical characteristics through
processing or alloying. The efficient powdered
metal process is conducive to large quantities
for cost reductions.
Hardware applications include not only
lockslides, but also latchbolts, dead bolts,
levers, cams, and locking rings, to name a
few. Powdered metal parts withstand fire,
endure harsh environments, and also have
great strength properties such as impact
resistance. |
