POWDERED METALLURGY PROCESS – PLANETARY MOTOR ASSEMBLY
ASCO Sintering is an award-winning custom
manufacturer of planetary motor components
utilizing the powdered metallurgy process.
ASCO in 2000 received the Ferrous Award of
Distinction from the Metal Powder Industries
Federation (MPIF) in recognition of 21 powder
metal components used in the four-wheel drive
shifting system. The planetary motor assembly
produced using ASCO’s powdered metallurgy
manufacturing process features a one-piece
planetary output carrier. The planetary motor
assembly also includes three planetary carriers
consolidating gear posts and the pinion gear into
one solid piece.
ASCO Sintering supplies the transportation, lock hardware, lawn & garden, irrigation, medical, hand tool, computer and cutlery industries.
Capabilities include tool design, tool manufacturing, complete metallurgical lab, warm-compaction, high-temperature sintering, sinter hardening, heat-treat, resin-impregnation, deburring, secondary machining, assembly and plating. Materials include low-alloy, diffusion alloyed steel, copper, infiltrated steels, stainless steel grades 300 and 400, brass, nickel silver, Monel ® , soft magnetic iron, and bronze.
The planetary motor output shaft is produced
utilizing a proprietary high-impact copper steel
material. ASCO Sinterings innovative design of
the inside diameter spline with the outside
diameter key allows for the proper alignment of
the planetary posts. These planetary motor
components are an outstanding example of
the advantages of powdered metal process
displaying design flexibility, precision, and
required strength.
Additional transportation applications for
powdered metal parts include gear carriers,
air bags, transfer case components, safety restraints, actuator motors,
brake and seat components, to name a few. |
