ROTOR ASSEMBLY
Powdered Metal Products
ASCO Sintering is an award-winning custom
manufacturer of powdered metal, including rotor components used in
clutch assemblies utilizing the powdered
metallurgy process. ASCO Sintering in 2004
received the Ferrous Grand Prize Award from
the Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF)
in recognition of the four part ( rotor, armature,
pinion, bearing) clutch assembly. The clutch
assembly is for automatic sliding minivan doors
and tailgates. The rotor assembly components
produced using the powdered metallurgy
process is an outstanding example of the
advantages of powdered metal products,
displaying design flexibility, precision,
required strength, and magnetic properties.
The powdered metal products used
in rotor assemblies are produced using an
innovative tool design that incorporates a
pneumatic-mechanical upper punch system.
The powdered metal product design includes extremely
consistent density distributions required to satisfy
the magnetic and strength properties for the rotor
assembly. The near-net shape limits secondary
machining thereby reducing scrap, which
minimizes cost. Creative powdered metal
tooling designs allow for intricate multi-level parts
with greater strength, improved mechanical and
fatigue properties when compared to competitive
manufacturing processes.
Other transportation applications for powdered
metal parts include gear carriers, air bags,
transfer case components,
safety restraints, actuator motors, brake and
seat components, to name a few. |
